Centrum Astronomiczne im. Mikołaja Kopernika zaprasza na wykład z serii „Spotkania z astronomią” pod tytułem:

Sagittarius A*: The Black Hole at the Galactic Center

Wykład wygłosi Alex Markowitz (CAMK, Warszawa)

I will review how astronomers perform observations of Sagittarius A*, the supermassive black hole residing at the center of our Milky Way Galaxy, 25000 light-years from Earth.  I will talk about Sagittarius A*’s gravitational interactions with nearby stars, and how gas and dust fall onto the black hole and feed it.  I will present new insights into stars residing in this extreme-gravity environment.

Wykład w języku angielskim.
